A Note from Our
Co-Founders

A Moment of Retreat (AMOR) was founded by Heather Lee Schmidt and Chris Daood, partners in life and work, who share a deep commitment to contemplative living, healing, and growth. Together, they bring more than four decades of combined experience in spiritual guidance, psychotherapy, financial wellness, teaching, and leadership.

Their shared vision is to create spaces of presence and reflection – spaces where individuals and communities can listen deeply, grow authentically, and discover the sustaining gifts of love (amor). By integrating their unique expertise and their shared contemplative practice, Heather and Chris guide others in reconnecting with themselves, one another, and the world around them.

Heather Lee Schmidt

Heather is a contemplative spiritual guide, retreat and meeting facilitator, and author of This Moment of Retreat. Her Spiritual Guidance practice rests in holy listening—deep, slow, and attentive to the presence of Divine Love in all things. Formed through the Shalem Institute, as a Benedictine Oblate of Holy Wisdom Monastery, and as a student of Wisdom, Heather brings a prayerful heart and artist’s sensibility as an author, poet, and singer-songwriter into her guidance work.

Alongside her contemplative practice, Heather is a CPA with over 25 years of experience in teaching, leadership, and consulting in higher education and business. She integrates her expertise in financial wellness, organizational leadership, and values-based decision-making with her contemplative grounding, offering individuals and groups a holistic approach to growth and wellbeing.

At A Moment of Retreat (AMOR), Chris offers both clinical and contemplative care, guiding individuals toward healing and wholeness in their daily lives.
